Mental Health First Aid for Adults

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) equips individuals to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adults. The training covers common symptoms, how to engage with someone experiencing a crisis, how to connect them with appropriate support, and includes expanded content on trauma, substance use, and self-care.

Participants also learn to use the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE):

Assess for risk of suicide or harm

Listen nonjudgmentally

Give reassurance and information

Encourage professional help

Encourage self-help and other support strategies
