Every nonprofit can and should get involved in advocacy to help advance its mission. Representatives of nonprofit organizations can educate and inform decision-makers, including policymakers with the expertise, experience, and real-life stories necessary to find solutions to complex community problems. Additionally, advocacy shapes the public debate about issues that affect nonprofits. It’s the one-way nonprofits can focus attention on the issues they care about and bring about real change for the people and causes they serve. To promote an environment in which nonprofits can thrive and best serve our state's residents, Texas Nonprofit Strong aims to:
- BUILD the public’s understanding of the important role of nonprofits
- EDUCATE nonprofit leaders to be better advocates, including through the tracking of state and federal legislation
- LOBBY on behalf of the entire nonprofit sector in Texas.
We are seeking organizations that acknowledge the important role nonprofits can play in creating positive public policies that increase the chances of mission success for all Texas nonprofits to join our new Advocacy Network. This new coalition will help guide the priorities and advocacy strategy for the Texas Nonprofit Strong initiative.
